Brian G. Cooper
Background
With degrees in physics and electronics engineering, Brian has more than 50 years experience developing advanced systems for agencies such as NOAA, FAA, and the Department of Defense. At Lockheed Martin, he served as a Master Solution Architect and Technical Fellow, managing multi-billion-dollar programs and overseeing projects that integrated technology, security, and infrastructure. He is highly experienced in strategic planning and project management - critical skills that are needed for our Town’s responsible development.
Alongside his professional achievements, Brian is a hands-on builder. He designed and constructed his own energy-efficient home, completing everything from wiring and plumbing to cabinetry and finishing work. This experience gave him a strong working knowledge of national building codes and the importance of safe, high-quality construction.
Since moving to Hideout in 2019, Brian has invested deeply in our community. He led the Infrastructure Committee in creating long-term plans for water, sewer, drainage, power, gas, and internet services. While living in his new home Brian uncovered several systemic electrical and plumbing code violations and worked with the builder to get them resolved for the entire community. As chair of the Shoreline One HOA’s Architecture Review Committee, he helps maintain neighborhood standards. And, when winter hits, he even pitches in as a part-time snowplow driver to support town crews.
Why Brian is Running
Throughout his career, Brian worked on complex challenges for the Federal Government, always focused on improving public safety and security. Now retired, he is eager to bring that same passion and expertise to Hideout - to help strengthen our local economy, improve public safety, and build resilient infrastructure for the future.
Brian knows these issues require long-term commitment, careful planning, and the ability to work effectively with developers, residents, and community leaders. His approach is collaborative; listening to diverse perspectives, building consensus, and finding win-win solutions. With a background in science, engineering, and strategic planning, he brings skills that will complement the current Town Council and serve our community well.
Brian’s goal is simple: to help Hideout grow responsibly while preserving the small-town character and quality of life that make this such a special place to live.
