Brian G. Cooper
BACKGROUND:
Brian has degrees in physics and electronics engineering and over 50 years experience developing autonomous systems for NOAA, FAA, NARA, Census Bureau, DHS, DoD, DoJ, NSF, and NIH. As a Master Solution Architect and Technical Fellow at Lockheed Martin, Brian managed several multi-billion dollar programs where he was responsible for hardware, software, data management, cyber security, physical security, and building design. He is highly experienced in strategic planning and project management - critical skills that are needed for our Town’s responsible development. In his spare time, Brian designed a custom home featuring super insulation and geothermal HVAC. He performed all of the wiring, plumbing, ventilation, drywall, cabinetry, and finishing work by himself. As a result, he is familiar with the national building codes.
Since moving to Hideout in 2019, Brian has served the community by leading the Infrastructure Committee to develop master plans for the Town’s water, sewer, drainage, power, gas, and internet service. As the chair of the Shoreline One HOA’s Architecture Review Committee, Brian ensures proposed modifications meet neighborhood standards. He also serves the Town as a part-time snowplow driver to relieve the full-time crews when needed. While living in his new home Brian uncovered several systemic electrical and plumbing code violations and worked with the builder to get them resolved for the entire community.
MOTIVATION:
Throughout his career, Brian has thrived when solving complex problems for the Federal Government to improve public safety and security. Now retired, he brings that same enthusiasm and expertise to enhance our Town’s economic development, improve public safety, and increase the resilience of our infrastructure. His management style is to collaborate with all stakeholders, include diverse points of view, and develop negotiated win-win solutions. He believes his scientific and engineering skills provide unique assets to the Town Council.
Together, let’s make Hideout the ‘Jewel of the Jordanelle’
